You will be amazed by the crystal clear water, the white sand and the biodiversity of one of the most beautiful island of Madagascar.
On the way, we will certainly come across groups of dolphins and we will enjoy snorkeling on the coral reefs.

A walk along the sandbank is a must, as it links the two Iranja islands at low tide. Villagers sell local handicrafts including tablecloths, pareos, paintings and various souvenirs. The lighthouse, situated on a hill overlooking the sandbar and the surrounding area, offers a beautiful panoramic view.

Popular with groups, couples, families and solo travelers, Nosy iranja offers scuba diving and snorkeling.

Female sea turtles dig nests on beaches to lay their eggs. With a bit of luck, if you're there at the right time, it's possible to see babies emerge. We also offer this excursion in a bivouac package over two or more days.

Dolphins :

Humpback dolphins, bottlenose dolphins and spinner dolphins are present all year around. Far from the seashore, they can be found in groups of a dozen or in smaller groups closer to the shore. They are usually shy but love playing.

Spinner dolphins are small dolphins living in largegroupe wich can be found at distance of the shore. Very often they jump out of water and twist in the air beautifully. They can be found occassionnaly when diving. They dare come close to boats et play around the stem. The bottlenose dolphin (tursiops) is present everywhere, living in small groups, either close to the shore or at distance. It is quite curious, and one of the rare dolphins whose swimming with him can take up to dozens of minutes.

Humpback dolphins live in small groups near the shore, they are less curious and shyer, although loving to play when young.

We encounter also less often : pilote whale, peponocéphales, false killer whale, spotted dolphins...

Species you could see

Humpback whale

from august to october, we have the chance to witness the magnificent parades of the humpbacks which came to breed and give birth to their calve in the warm water of the bay.

Whale Sharks

from October to December, juvenile whale sharks come to feed at the surface... a chance to swim with the biggest fish of the world.

Turtles

In the water of the bay lives the second biggest marine turtle... the green turtle. You will assurely see some swimming in the blue or feeding at the bottom.

Dolphins

at large in group of several animals, our ashore in small families, you will surely have the chance to come across humpback, spinner or bottlenose dolphins.

Sharks

leopard shark, white tipped shark, grey shark... the closeness of the reef and the deep blue, gives the opportunity of wonderful surprises.

How to visit Nosy Iranja?

To get to Nosy Iranja, boats leave from our Nosy Komba base at 08:00 in the morning, or our boat will pick you up in front of your hotel. The return time is 4.30pm.

Where to swim in Nosy Iranja?

Nosy Iranja is an ideal island for bathing, with sandy beaches and crystal-clear water of exceptional beauty. The sandbanks provide protection from the waves on either side. Swimming is unsupervised.

Is all included in the price of the excursion to Nosy Iranja organized by Safari Baleine?
